Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Kiddo and I have been busy getting ready for Valentine's Day.

The other day we put together treat jars for his friends.  They will be late...as we have to still mail them.

Today I made cookies for the neighbors....

Sugar cookies with buttercream frosting

This year I made old fashioned Valentine's just like my Grandma used to make.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day with their sweetheart.  We have already had dinner out this week so tomorrow we will have a quiet evening in.

Learning Italian

It is time for Kiddo to start to learn a second language.  He wanted to learn Italian (and so did I).

Last night was our first immersion lesson.  Wow it is hard but fun!!

Here is the program that we picked out...

The lessons are on DVDs and CDs.  (sorry this pic insists on loading sideways)

It also comes with a work book with activities, flash cards and stickers.

Kiddo is doing good, Hubby is catching on fast.... Momma is another story.  I am going to require more study time than my guys.

Trip to Colorado Spring-- Brunch at the Broadmoor

My family and I took a trip to Colorado Springs this past weekend.  We were visiting friends and they treated us to brunch at the Broadmoor

This is the entrance to the resort

This was the dining room where the brunch was served.  Everything was elegantly presented.  Love the golds and blacks!!

This was my plate.... bacon, scrambled eggs, saffron rice, a mini pancake, mini bagel, small salad, and mini open-faced sandwich and grilled asparagus.

I did go back for a little bit more.... mostly fruit, tiny sampling of different cheeses and a mini- muffin.

The rest of the group enjoyed some of the many desserts

Everything on the table was simple but elegant.  Simple goblets and white china.  You can also see the beautiful silver beside my plate.

The highlight of the dessert was a 6 tier chocolate fountain.

In one area of the main hotel they had walls lined with cupboards filled with antique bottles.

We spent the afternoon walking around the grounds of the Broadmoor.

We even got a peek at the spa.  It is by member only so we only got to see the outside area.

One of the lounges was pretty empty so they let us walk around inside.  So beautiful. The tables were super simple... bar towels for napkins and white china.

We also walked around their private lake... it was a bit chilly and windy but the view was worth it,

Visiting the Broadmoor was quite an experience.

Clinic Day

We try to do fun things on clinic day... eat out, go to the city park.  This week I had my quarterly clinic appointment with the Ear Nose and Throat Clinic and CF clinic.  It was cold outside.  No going to the park to walk around... instead we stopped at the local Bass Pro Shop and walked around for a couple of hours.

We loved the entrance of the store:

Hubby and Kiddo are starting to get into camping and hiking.  I have always loved fishing.  Since we had lots of time to spare we all got to look at their favorite area of the store.  We even had fun looking at the fishing boats and ATVs.

This was my first time in a Bass Pro store.  I loved the huge fish tank.  I could have sat and watched the fish forever.

Look at this huge guy!!  (he was about 3 feet long)
