Mother's Day Hankies

I love old things.... old traditions... old hankies.

I didn't have any hankies that I could part with so.... I made some vintage looking hankies for Mother's Day.

They are made from soft linen fabric.

All of them are machine embroidered on the edge.  This one shows the stitching the best.

This muted floral fabric is one of my favorites.

A warm iron and a short note attached is needed before I wrap them up.

Red Floral Dish Towel

Another handicraft that I do is embroidery.

I embroidered red flowers at the end of the towel....

Each of the flowers were a touch different.

It was an easy sew but turned out gift worthy!

Car Lap Napkins

My dad drives a lot for his work.  He sometimes has to have lunch (or supper) in his car between appointments.  I thought I would make him some lap napkins so that he can eat but keep his clothes clean. I made him two napkins... one for him and one for my mom (if she goes with him).

My sewing machine does embroidery.  I got to save my hands and wrists this time.

I made these lap napkins out of flour sack towels. I cut one in half and then hemmed the raw edge.
They are long enough to cover the lap and the sides of the legs.

If they get dirty... just throw them in the washing machine.
